Camtasia Tutorials are available from Techsmith at the Camtasia studio website. They are excellent for learning how to use the software from a technical perspective. You can use them to weigh up whether or not you will get the use out of Camtasia that warrants the investment.
You might also find information from other users invaluable as the practice is often different to the theory. You can use Camtasia to record Powerpoint Presentations. Here is my experience in converting Powerpoint to video.

Step 1 – Audio – Is Key To More Sales

If Powerpoint is new to you, it may take a while for you to become comfortable with speaking into a microphone. Firstly you need to prepare your slides, then you are ready to run through your timings, it is important that you practice reading through the script while clicking through the slides. Timing is everything when reading along with the slides but there is a rehearsal button so you can have unlimited rehearsals that will make it easy to produce a video that looks professional. If you can impose your personality into the words so much the better. Giving the benefits as the slides go by adds emotion and emotion equals sales. You need to have a connection between what is being said and what is on view. Pretend that you are having a conversation with your best pal. The main ingredient to the voice over aspect of the video is to have a natural conversation and not sound like a hard sell.

Step 2 – Choosing Screencast Software

Once have your Powerpoint slides ready and have practiced reading your script, you now need to find a screen recorder program like Camtasia or CamStudio. CamStudio is free but I found it more difficult to use. Camtasia costs around $300 but there is a 30-day free trial available. It is amazing how easy it is to let 30 days slip by without really getting to grips with the software. During that 30-day period try to get lots of use so that you have an idea if you will use the software in the long term, Camtasia also has good technical tutorials for you to watch. These are Camtasia Tutorials that are available for you to watch before you sign up for your 30-day trial. I strongly recommend that your watch the free videos before signing up so you can get right to creating your video once you get the free trial.
Once you get your Power Point presentation into Camtasia, go to file, record slide show. Plug in your microphone and hit record. Again, if you are new, it will probably take you a few takes to get the balance right for the video. But you don’t have to get it spot on because you can edit out any mistakes. Don’t forget, the more natural you are, the better the video. If you are really struggling at first you can always add a musical audio instead to get your first one out the way.Sometimes convidence is slow to master in recording your video.. Spend extra time on this step, and don’t take any short cuts because you need to sound confident not like you are just about to drop off to sleep. This is key to making a Great Video.
You will benefit from using information from other users and if you are serious a course by professional users on the software.
