What the book doesn't do is tell you why you would want to do things in the way Wempen explains. In a phrase, the book has no soul. It's just a compilation of what PowerPoint's menus can do in so much detail that it hurts. There's very little information about the features and functions but I did find a section on how to dress!!! I specifically wanted to understand more about programming templates and add-ins…nothing helpful at all, and sadly, not even enough for a beginner to get a good foundation in this very important concept in powerpoint and in all office components.

I was very disappointed and will be returning it as soon as I can wrap it up and ship it back.

This CD is a complete letdown. I wish they remove the CD and reduce the cost of this book. One reason, it has a lot of tips for doing advanced things like custom animation, videos, etc. It also has these workshop lab exercises at the ends of the sections that give you a chance to practice things like a workbook. The CD is also good, it has lots of backgrounds templates and add-ins. Rating: 5 / 5 I like this book best of all the PowerPoint books I have.
