Have you ever heard the debate about whether the skill of presenting to large audiences is learned or a natural born skill? This article is not intended to provide an answer to that, but one thing is certain, proper training and tutorials in PowerPoint and presenting will definitely bring you closer to being a stellar presenter. Microsoft PowerPoint is an awesome tool and the wealth of features it provide can help a presenter in being more confident while giving a message that will entertain and teach at the same time. The challenge with that is the lack of PowerPoint tutorials and the lack of training available. The help feature in PowerPoint is very helpful and is good to remind the user of certain features. What the help feature does not do is teach you new tricks, how to make engaging presentations and how to avoid sounding like you are reading words directly from your slides.

The last thing you want to do in PowerPoint is place sentences on the slide, and PowerPoint Tutorials will help you to prevent that. Whether or not you plan to read the sentences is beyond the point. Youd be surprised how automatically you will read the slides if the sentences are there. Also, your audience will get distracted trying to read the words on the slides. What you need to do is add very brief bullet point statements that provide a summary of your sentence. You are expected to understand the material that you are presenting before making a presentation. Your presentation should contain interesting and appropriate graphs, charts, photos and charts and should be balanced with text. You can even include YouTube videos directly in the presentation, so that you dont have to visit YouTube directly. You will also need to be careful with including videos in presentation because you do not want them to be long and distracting. One of the most important things you will need to remember when making a presentation is the natural attention span of human beings. There is no defined attention span for humans in general but if your presentation is boring you will lose the attention of your audience fairly quickly.

Powerpoint tutorials and videos are great ways of building up your expertise on PowerPoint. You will want to start small and learn small chunks at a time, but if your job requires that you make frequent presentations it will be in your best interest to get up to speed on the capabilities of Microsoft PowerPoint. Tutorials in PowerPoint vary from how to set up a basic slide to making complex animations in PowerPoint. You may be quick to say that you dont want to invest the time in learning advanced PowerPoint concepts, but the more interactive you can make your PowerPoint slides its the best impact it will have on your audience. So, if making engaging presentations is important to you, take the time to get up to speed on Microsoft PowerPoint, as well as build up your presentation skills.
