What is Web Hosting?
In the era of computerization where most of the work is dependent on computers, web Hosting is serving as a boon for business for any sector or any activity. Web Hosting is a type of internet hosting system that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own websites accessible through world wide web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing internet connectivity, typically in a data center . Webhosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called collocation.
Types of hosting.
Moving further on the above topic , following are some of the commonly known types of hosting.:
- Reseller web hosting: allows clients to become web hosts themselves. Resellers could function, for individual domains, under any combination of these listed types of hosting, depending on who they are affiliated with as a provider. Resellers’ accounts may vary tremendously in size: they may have their own virtual dedicated server to a colocated server.
- Shared web hosting services: one’s Web site is placed on the same server as many other sites, ranging from a few to hundreds or thousands. Typically, all domains may share a common pool of server resources, such as RAM and the CPU. A shared website may be hosted with a reseller.
- Managed hosting service: the user gets his or her own Web server but is not allowed full control over it (root access for Linux/administrator access for Windows); however, they are allowed to manage their data via FTP or other remote management tools. The user is disallowed full control so that the provider can guarantee quality of service by not allowing the user to modify the server or potentially create configuration problems. The user typically does not own the server. The server is leased to the client.
- Free web hosting service: is free, (sometimes) advertisement-supported web hosting, and is often limited when compared to paid hosting Virtual dedicated server: slicing up a server into virtual servers. each user feels like they’re on their own dedicated server, but they’re actually sharing a server with many other users. The users may have root access to their own virtual space.
- Dedicated hosting service: the user gets his or her own Web server and gains full control over it (root access for Linux/administrator access for Windows); however, the user typically does not own the server. Another type of Dedicated hosting is Self-Managed or Unmanaged. This is usually the least expensive for Dedicated plans. The user has full administrative access to the box, which means the client is responsible for the security and maintenance of his own dedicated box.
- Colocation web hosting service: similar to the dedicated web hosting service, but the user owns the colo server; the hosting company provides physical space that the server takes up and takes care of the server. This is the most powerful and expensive type of the web hosting service. In most cases, the colocation provider may provide little to no support directly for their client’s machine, providing only the electrical, Internet access, and storage facilities for the server. In most cases for colo, the client would have his own administrator visit the data center on site to do any hardware upgrades or changes.
How to obtain Hosting?
Now-a-days its easy to avail this facility of web hosting due to enormous growth of I.T.sector and more enormous competition among several providers. Web hosting is often provided as part of a general Internet access plan; there are many free and paid providers offering these services.
A customer needs to evaluate the requirements of the application to choose what kind of hosting to use. Such considerations include database server software, scripting software, and operating system. Most hosting providers provide Linux-based web hosting which offers a wide range of different software. A typical configuration for a Linux server is the LAMP platform: Linux,Apache,MySQL and PHP/Perl/Python. The webhosting client may want to have other services, such as email for their business domain, databases or multi-media services for streaming media. A customer may also choose Windows for its hosting platform. The customer still can choose from PHP, Perl, and Python but may also use ASP .Net or Classic ASP.
Web hosting packages often include a Web Content Management System so the end-user doesn’t have to worry about the more technical aspects.
One may also search the Internet to find active webhosting message boards and web hosting blogs that may provide feedback on what type of webhosting company may suit his/her needs.

Search Engine Optimization Tips – Google Webmaster Tools & Sitemaps
In todayâs age, users do not have the time or the patience to go through thousands of search results. More than 90% of Internet users do not browse beyond the top 15 sites. In such a scenario, visibility and search engine optimization are crucial if you want to pull in maximum visitor traffic to your site. In such a case, Googleâs Webmaster tools help you do just that and much more!
Google provides one of the best Webmaster tools available online. These tools offer a free and an easy way to make your site more Google-friendly and search engine optimized. âGoogle Webmaster toolsâ have great scope to help you in efficiently handling all aspects of website management and making your site search engine friendly. To take an example, keyword suggestion tool helps you in identifying keywords relevant to your business. Another tool like site analytics software helps you track online visitors to your site. This tool can provide information about the channel through which these visitors find you, if they are turning into customers and also give data on prospective leads on your site.
Broadly, these tools provide updated information about any problems on your web pages; the number of pages contained in your index and a detailed compilation of every page on the Internet that links to your pages. Using this tool, you can identify the reason why your pages rank high or low for search words and phrases. Optimal use of Webmaster tools is the only way you can achieve
search engine optimization
and a sure shot technique to stay way ahead of competition.
Another valuable tool is Sitemaps. A Sitemap is a list of pages on your website. By creating and submitting a Sitemap, you provide Google information about your site, including URLs which Googleâs normal crawling process may not be able to discover. The Sitemap tells Google about the important pages of your website and how often you change them. This tool helps Google crawl your pages smarter and enables you to see what is going on the minds of Google searchers. To take an example, you can see what queries and keywords people use when they find your site. You will know whether people find you for the keywords you have been targeting or not. This way you can optimize your content.
Google Sitemaps is a simple way in which you can enhance your coverage in the Google index. Itâs a collaborative crawling system that allows you to communicate directly with Google. The Sitemaps protocol allows a web master to inform search engines about URLs on a website that are available for crawling. By submitting sitemaps to a search engine, a web master is assisting that engineâs crawlers to crawl more intelligently and do a better job. Having a Google Sitemap would let the biggest search engines have latest and up-to-date information. To build your sitemap online in four easy steps, check the link http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/.
Google Webmaster Tools and Sitemaps are an excellent way to take better control of your website management. You would no longer be passively submitting your site; but would also monitor and edit it. As explained earlier, with the help of these advanced tools, you can improve online traffic to your site, enhance your siteâs functionality and grow your business opportunities.

Web Hosting Because it is Your Business
Business Web Hosting:
Be Aware That Cheap Options Are Not Always The Best. Choosing the right business web hosting provider is important if one wishes to get the best possible solution. A good provider will enable the business to grow its business by taking advantage of features such as numerous web marketing tools and be able to get advice as well as information from the service provider’s partner sites.
Advantages In Choosing A Good Plan
The webmaster or webmasters that create the business web hosting services should be top notch professionals having years of experience in dealing with different ecommerce challenges and, should be able to give specific answers to different business queries. One should also exercise restraint and not jump at cheap web hosting accounts that may look cheap at first but, which require paying extra and thus adds to the costs by having expensive upgrade fees, later on.
Another important aspect one should consider before getting one’s business web hosting solution from a provider is the type of connectivity offered. The Internet backbone should not be just a single link but, must include an intersection of multiple Internet backbones which should ensure high speeds, reliability as well as constant connectivity.
A good business web hosting service will provide features such as hundreds of professionally designed website templates, unlimited tracking of popular ads being clicked on the website as well as provide a forum that will supply and help in sharing information as well as be able to strike deals and, also have access to exact answers and contacts that are required on a daily basis.
There are three web hosting options available and these are shared hosting, UNIX or Windows shared hosting and dedicated servers. The most widely used type of web hosting is shared hosting in which a number of websites are hosted on a single server. On the other hand, UNIX based servers would suit users that do not use more than HTML pages as it works out to be a bit cheaper. However, for those that need to use programming languages called Active Server Pages or need to connect to a database one can consider a Windows server. Finally, dedicated servers are for users that want or need total control of their server and are willing to pay extra for such features from their buiness web hosting service.
